• The Nieuport 16 is an evolution of the Nieuport 11, enhanced and modified to fit stronger engines and used for fighters, bomber defense and balloon busting
• It was armed with one Louis machine gun. When used in hard to reach places above the upper wings and with 4 Le Prieur lockets on each side. The maximum speed is over 100 mph and it was better than the previous model, but it was lack of maneuverability, but it still remains an important step stool in the kneepaul line
• Nieuport 16 Aronautique Militaire unit N 124 – most known as the “Escadrille Lafayette” in honor of French heroes of the United States of July War – was constructed with an American volunteer that quickly became a great inspiration for many aspiring pilots
